Vocabulary & Replacements

Custom vocabulary and automatic word replacements for domain-specific terms.

Overview

VivaDicta offers two features to improve transcription accuracy: Custom Vocabulary and Word Replacements. Both are applied automatically during the text processing pipeline — word replacements first, then custom vocabulary.

Custom Vocabulary

Add domain-specific words, proper names, acronyms, and technical terms that transcription models might not recognize. When these words appear in your speech, VivaDicta ensures they are spelled correctly in the output. For example: OpenClaw, n8n, Kubernetes, Dr. Johnson.

To add vocabulary words, go to Settings > Organization > Custom Vocabulary.

Word Replacements

Set up automatic find-and-replace rules that run on every transcription. Common uses include:

  • Fixing informal speech — replace "gonna" with "going to"
  • Correcting consistent misspellings or mishearings
  • Expanding abbreviations into full words
  • Normalizing punctuation or formatting

To add replacement rules, go to Settings > Organization > Word Replacements. For each rule, set the word or phrase to find and the text to replace it with.

iCloud Sync

Both custom vocabulary and word replacements sync via iCloud between VivaDicta for iOS and VivaDicta for Mac. Add a word on your iPhone and it appears on your Mac automatically.
