AI Processing Overview

How VivaDicta uses AI to polish, rewrite, and transform your transcriptions.

VivaDicta can take your raw transcription and polish it with AI — fix grammar, add punctuation, reformat, summarize, translate, or completely rewrite it. This happens automatically after each recording.

How It Works

When AI processing is enabled, VivaDicta builds a system prompt based on your selected preset and sends it along with your transcribed text to your chosen AI provider. The AI returns a polished version that replaces or supplements the raw transcription.

Some text processing steps — like word replacements, custom vocabulary, output cleanup, and paragraph formatting — run automatically on every transcription, even without AI enabled. See How It Works for the full pipeline.

The AI processing step specifically does the following:

  1. Takes the transcribed text (after word replacements and vocabulary have already been applied).
  2. Builds a prompt from your selected preset's instructions.
  3. Sends both to your chosen AI provider and model.
  4. Returns the AI's output, which is then cleaned up and formatted before being displayed.

Enable AI Processing

  1. Open VivaDicta → Settings.
  2. Select the mode you want to configure.
  3. Enable AI Processing.
  4. Choose an AI provider and model.
  5. Choose a preset — Regular, Professional, Email, Summary, or any of the 40+ built-in options.

What Can AI Processing Do?

  • Fix grammar and punctuation — the Regular preset cleans up your speech into well-formatted text.
  • Change tone — Professional, Casual, Email, and Chat presets adjust the writing style.
  • Summarize — the Summary preset condenses long recordings into key points.
  • Extract action items — the Action Points preset pulls out tasks and next steps.
  • Translate — built-in translation presets convert your speech to another language. See Translation.

  • Custom processing — create your own presets with any instructions you want.
