AI Processing Overview

How VivaDicta uses AI to polish your transcriptions with built-in and custom presets.

VivaDicta can process your transcriptions using AI — fixing grammar, adding punctuation, reformatting, summarizing, translating, and more. This is optional and can be toggled per recording.

How It Works

  1. You record and VivaDicta transcribes your speech (raw text).
  2. If AI processing is enabled, the raw transcription is sent to an AI model with a prompt (preset).
  3. The AI returns polished text, which is pasted at your cursor.
  4. Both the raw transcription and AI-processed version are saved in your history.

Built-in Presets

VivaDicta comes with 39 built-in presets across 10 categories. Here are some of the most popular:

  • Regular — clean up grammar and punctuation.
  • Professional — formal, polished tone.
  • Casual — conversational, friendly tone.
  • Email — formatted as an email.
  • Chat — short, chat-style messages.
  • Coding — extract code or technical content.
  • Vibe Coding — natural language to code prompts.
  • Summary — summarize the transcription.
  • Action Points — extract action items.
  • Translate (EN/RU/ES) — translate to English, Russian, or Spanish.
  • Assistant — general AI assistant mode.

Custom Presets

Create your own presets with custom system prompts. You can:

  • Write any instruction for the AI.
  • Use system prompt templates for consistent formatting.
  • Wrap input in transcript tags for better AI understanding.
  • Organize presets into categories (Rewrite, Summarize, Translate, Assistant, Other).

Context Injection

VivaDicta can inject additional context into AI prompts for better results:

  • Clipboard content — the AI sees what's on your clipboard.
  • Screen OCR — the AI sees text on your screen (requires Screen Recording permission).
  • Selected text — the AI sees your text selection in the active app.
  • Custom vocabulary — domain-specific terms are included in the prompt.

Variations

Each transcription can have multiple AI-processed variations — one per preset. You can generate additional variations from the transcription detail view by selecting a different preset.

Switching Presets Quickly

Use keyboard shortcuts ⌘1–⌘0 in the mini recorder to switch presets instantly while recording.
