Our Commitment to Privacy
VivaDicta is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your voice recordings and transcriptions are personal, and you should have complete control over your data. This policy explains how VivaDicta handles your information.
On-Device Processing
VivaDicta offers fully on-device transcription and AI enhancement:
Transcription:
- WhisperKit — OpenAI Whisper models running locally on your device
- Parakeet — NVIDIA's speech recognition running locally on your device
AI Enhancement:
- Apple Intelligence — Apple's on-device foundation models for text enhancement
When using on-device models, your audio and text never leave your iPhone. All processing happens locally, and we have no access to your recordings, transcriptions, or enhanced text.
Cloud Processing (Optional)
You may optionally choose to use cloud-based transcription or AI enhancement services. When you do, your audio or text is sent to the provider you select:
- OpenAI (Whisper, GPT)
- Anthropic (Claude)
- Google (Gemini)
- Groq
- Deepgram
- ElevenLabs
- Mistral
- Cerebras
- xAI (Grok)
- Soniox
- OpenRouter
- Custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints
Each provider has their own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you use cloud services. You provide your own API keys — we do not have access to your accounts with these providers.
Self-hosted option: VivaDicta also supports Ollama, allowing you to run AI models on your own computer or local network for maximum privacy.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Audio recordings
- Transcriptions or enhanced text
- Personal information (name, email, phone)
- Payment information (purchases handled by Apple)
- Your API keys
Data Storage
All your transcriptions, recordings, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). If you delete the app, all local data is permanently removed.
Third-Party Services
VivaDicta integrates with the following services:
- Apple App Store — Handles purchases and subscriptions. See Apple's Privacy Policy
- Firebase Analytics — Anonymous usage analytics. See Firebase Privacy Policy
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Use VivaDicta entirely offline with on-device processing
- Delete all your data by removing the app
- Choose which (if any) cloud services to use
- Contact us with questions about your data
Children's Privacy
VivaDicta is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
